Ronald Jay Waggoner
Ronald Jay Waggoner.....December 1, 1960 - May 5, 2020.....Ronald Jay Waggoner, of Montpelier, Vermont went to the Lord after a brief illness with liver cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on December 1, 1960, the son of Jay Dameron and Fay Anne (Delp) Waggoner, the grandson of Emory William and Hallie Mae Delp of Princeton, WV & William D. and Deloris Jean Waggoner of Florence, SC. He lived in Bluefield, VA attending Dudley Elementary until the age of 11 then moved with his mother, two brothers and grandparents to Fort Walton Beach, FL attending Max Bruner Jr. High School and graduating from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1979. After graduation he served in the United States Army, Green Beret Special Forces, until his honorable discharge in 1987 with the rank of specialist. While serving in the United States Army he met the love of his life, Marla MacGregor of North Hero, Vt. He lived in Altamonte Springs, FL after his discharge from the army working for the family business, Rental Uniform Service of Florence, SC, starting as a route driver and rising to the position of plant manager until a business opportunity for self-employment owning a number of sports bars in the Orlando and Flagler Beach, FL area until he moved with his wife and kids to Montpelier, VT until his passing. After coming to terms with his troubles with alcohol, he recognized the gift of sobriety to his life, i't was with this revelation that he found his true calling and passion as a alcohol and drug counselor, he served the central Vermont community with the Lighthouse Program through Washington County Mental Health Department. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post #3, Elk's Club, VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also one of the founders of the Vermont Vet to Vet program, currently sponsored by the VA Hospital..... Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Marla Waggoner, his children, Dameron Waggoner Matherne of Denham Springs, LA, Dean Jay Waggoner of Barre, VT, Megan Waggoner of Vernon, CT, Nicole Waggoner of Barre, VT, his beloved mother Fay Anne (Delp) Waggoner of Fort Walton Beach, FL.....Siblings, William Alan Waggoner of N. Charleston, SC, Michael Wayne Waggoner of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Angela Waggoner Richey of Crosby, TX, Christy Waggoner-Orn of Pointblank, TX, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews...…"Come Unto Me All Ye That Labor And Are Heavy Laden".....Matthew 11:28 All flowers and cards to be sent to in loving memory of: Ronald Jay Waggoner 21 Wisteria Court NW, Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32548
