WENDT, RICHARD HERMAN age 88, of Grand Rapids died peacefully on April 14, 2020. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Betty, and stepdaughter Linda (Jack) Nelson. Richard is survived by his daughters Holly (Mike) Wallace and Laura (Bobby) DeWitt, stepson Don (Carol) Weaver, stepdaughter Susan (Bill) Van Lopik, sister Norma (Joe) Mariage, grandchildren Graham and Grant Wallace, Christian Van Lopik (Phillip Mayville), Rafael Van Lopik, Lori (Reuben) Bruckley, Greg Nelson, Denise ( Bryon Sosnowski) Weaver, Ken (Tiffany) Weaver, and several great grandchildren. Richard loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed jazz music and was well known in the Grand Rapids jazz scene as an avid concert goer. Richard enjoyed playing golf with his senior league partners who were wonderful lifelong friends. His positive outlook on life and approach to challenges were an inspiration to many. A celebration of Richard's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Blue Lake Public Radio and Mel Trotter Mission.
