John Anderson Lyles
John Anderson Lyles Sr passed away on Wednesday April 8, 2020. John was born in Yazoo City, MS to Scott and Marie Yankie Lyles. He was a graduate of Yazoo City High School and Mississippi State College. John served in the United States Army during the Korean War, having been stationed in Japan, He married Mary Virginia Vincent in 1955 and they moved to Pascagoula, where he worked for Mississippi Chemical until retirement in 1983. Because of his love for travel, John and his current wife have traveled throughout all 50 of the United States and into Canada and Mexico. He was a born leader, from his early accomplishments as an Eagle Scout, his service to the country in the Army and in later years as an active member of American Legion Post #160 and 40 &8 Voiture1411 where he held numerous offices in both local and state levels. John was also active in the Jackson County Carnival Association, He was honored to the King of the Tri-Cities Carnival Club and American Legion Balls. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Virginia and a brother Billy Scott Lyles. John is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary R Lyles; five children, Leslie Anderson (Wayne) of Cape Coral , FL, John A Lyles Jr. (Ann) of Vancleave, MS, Amelia Gibson ( Sambo) of Lucedale, MS, Maureen Williams (Mike) of Graham, NC and Leonard Scott Lyles (Denise) of Pascagoula, MS; a brother, Ed Lyles of Franklinton, LA; stepchildren, Kathy Terry of Biloxi, MS, Jerry Terry Jr (Melissa) of Laurel, MS, Thomas Neal Terry (Regina) of Brandon, MS and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
