Elizabeth (Betty) Beck
Beck, Elizabeth (Betty) 1/13/1929 - 3/23/2020 Alanson, MI It is with great sadness and resignation that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend, Elizabeth Louise (Hochgreve Liska) Beck on Monday, March 23, 2020. She was not alone as she passed peacefully into her Saviour's arms. She held in her heart all those she knew and loved. Betty Lou was born on January 13, 1929 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Ruth (Baenen) and Louis Hochgreve. She moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan as a teenager. There, she met and married Augustine Liska. Together they raised their children, Steve (Karen) Liska, Judy (Dennis/Dave) Mitchell, Terri (Kurt/Larry) Gold, Suzi (Steven) Holdaway, Rick (Michelle) Liska and Karen (Rick Gustafson) Liska. She married Frederick Beck in 1990 and grew her family to include his children, Tom, Gail and Bill. She leaves behind her children as well as her brother, Richard Stacy, sister-in-law Donna Stacy, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, several cousins, many nieces and nephews who she loved as bonus children and a multitude of loved ones whose friendship she cultivated from the time she was living in Green Bay, through her most recent home in Alanson, Michigan. Our heartfelt thanks to Sheryl and all of the caregivers from McLaren Hospice of Northern Michigan who provided such warm, loving and tender care to Mom the last 4 years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Augustine Liska and Frederick Beck, daughter Suzi, her brothers Don (Eileen), Jim (Sue), and Tom, her sisters- and brothers-in-law, Anne and Glenn Schnearle and Lydia and Carl Prybil, sister-in-law Susan Stacy and her sons-in-law Dennis Schaedig and Kurt Luplow. To honor her impact on your life, we ask that you carry on whatever your favorite attribute was of her, into your own life. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A mass of Christian burial will be held in the coming summer months. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or McLaren Hospice - Hiland Cottage, Petoskey, MI. Betty's charisma, compassion and joy for life left indelible and cherished memories with everyone she met. She was diligent in acknowledging birthdays of family and friends regardless of how their ranks grew over time. We believe her wish to those of us she left behind would be to remember her in happy and healthy times and that she loved us without judgement or reservation.
