James K. Spencer
James K. Spencer La Quinta - James K. Spencer (Jim/Kelly) passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020, at his home in La Quinta at the age of 76. Jim was a longtime resident of the Valley, joining Alpha Beta as store manager in Indio in his twenties, becoming a stock broker/financial advisor at the age of 35, and retiring from Wells Fargo Advisors in 2016. He was a paperboy growing up in Long Beach, CA, and always believed it gave him a good start for business. Jim was a US Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, and was active over the years in Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Shelter From The Storm, and Desert Estate Planning. As a young boy he became interested in cars and developed passions that eventually extended to race-car driving, sailing, flying, golfing, and traveling. Jim always believed he was "lucky," and leaves us with his great smile and his enthusiasm for living each day. Jim was predeceased by his wife Robin, the mother of his three children, and is survived by his wife Nancy; his children Timothy/spouse Debbie, Mathew/spouse Jeaneen, and Catherine; grandchildren James, Jane, Zander, and Riley; siblings Ron/spouse Cathy, Janet/spouse Jeff, and Dave/spouse Cheryl; and nieces and nephews Erica, Spencer, Kaeffer, Summer, Chase, Mark, and Lee. He was cremated at Forest Lawn, and a celebration of life will take place in the fall. The family thanks Dr. Luke Dreisbach and all of the dedicated members of Eisenhower Health who so lovingly cared for Jim since November. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Coachella Valley Rescue Mission or Hope Lutheran Church, Palm Desert.
