William (Bill) Effinger, a seventeen-year resident of Fort Bragg, passed peacefully in his sleep, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 in his home surrounded by close family. Bill was born on April 1, 1940, in Martinez, California. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. He graduated with a B.S. in mathematics from Sacramento State and went on to civil service at Ridgecrest/China Lake, California, living there for 34 years. Bill was a devoted husband and father, an avid cyclist, excellent woodworker and bread baker, and lifelong spiritual seeker. Bill is survived by his wife, Martha; his children, Scott Effinger and Laura Ford; son-in-law, Ray Ford; his perfect grandchildren, Jordan Effinger, David Ford, Emily Jones and Paul Ford; and his sister, Dorrit Effinger.
