Vetreis "Vee" (Gower) Killough
Vetreis "Vee" (Gower) Killough Evansville - Vetreis "Vee" (Gower) Killough, 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at home due to complications of cancer. She was born September 16, 1931 in Hopkins County, Kentucky to the late Ida (Herron) and Grover Gower. Vee moved to Evansville when she was nine years old. She was a 1949 graduate of Evansville Central High School. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) #1114 Auxiliary. Vee was a lifelong community volunteer with the Vanderburgh County Republican party. She retired from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles License Branch. Vee attended various churches during her lifetime, including the Evansville Rescue Mission, Christian Fellowship Church, The Bridge Church and Pleasant Chapel General Baptist Church. She loved glassware and jewelry. Vee is survived by her two daughters, Dixie Reece and Gayla "Gayl" Killough; sister, Faith Jones; and grandson, Daryl Reece, all of Evansville, Indiana. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and her cat, Sweetie. In addition to her parents, Vee is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Larry Killough, who died in 2010, and her brother, Don Gower. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 North First Ave., Evansville, 47710. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Baggett officiating. Burial will be a Locust Hill Cemetery.
