David Peterson
David Ernest Peterson born May 19th, 1938 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Son of a naval officer, David traveled extensively with his family throughout his childhood. He returned to Springfield in 1953 where he attended and graduated from Technical High School class of 1956. It was here David met the love of his life, Barbara Brandoli. After high school, David attended Springfield College with the hopes of becoming a Physical Education Teacher. Upon graduation, he married Barbara in 1961 and they would be inseparable until her passing in 2001. They settled in Agawam and David would spend the next 25 years as a teacher, coach, counselor and administrator in the City of Springfield. A truly selfless man, he was a lover of animals and was kind toward all living things. He devoted his life to his boys Eric and Jeff. He never missed an event and he built a home filled with love and support for his family and friends. He retired in 1985 and entered into the field of real estate in Vermont. He spent much time at his beloved home in Newfane on the West River. Later he would winter in Florida where he played golf and enjoyed the company of many wonderful friends. David leaves a sister, Linda Grant of Springfield. He leaves two boys whom he loved more than anything in the world, Eric and Jeff. Cherished grandchildren, Nickolas, Monica, Jake, Brooke, Cody, Russell and Luke. David is predeceased by his wife Barbara his parents Russell and Gertrude. David also leaves his special companion and best friend of 20 years Minnie Punch and her son Denis and his wife Kate. He will be missed by his many friends at St. Anne’s Country Club as well as many others who knew David in his lifetime. David has requested a closed service and in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Dakin Animal Shelter 171 Union St Springfield MA 01105
