In memory of
JERRY T. GASKELL
GASKELL, JERRY T. On Friday, January 10, 2020 Jerry died in Saline, Michigan at Arbor Hospice in his 86th year of life. Born in Three Rivers, Michigan, Jerry attended the local high school, and upon graduation joined the US Air Force during the Korean War, serving in West Africa. Upon completion the West Michigan College of Barbering and Beauty in Kalamazoo, he worked for Jacobson's Department Store in Ann Arbor, retiring after 40 years. During this time as hair-dresser, he made numerous friends from the clientele, many sharing secrets which were never divulged outside the shop. Even in his later years Jerry could be seen in Ann Arbor on his favorite means of transportation: bicycling around town, meeting people in all walks of life and making friends among strangers. In retirement he established close relationships at Hildene Manor on Washtenaw Avenue, cared for the large garden and befriended the many wild critters that visited there. Jerry will be fondly remembered for the uplifting, humorous and open contacts he created with his many friends, acquaintances and regular clients. He was preceded by his mother: Wilma Bella Gaskell nee: Godshalk, and sister Ruth Ann Gaskell. His wish is to be with animals in the wild and bequests orphaned pets in the area. It was Jerry's wish that there is no service. We will hold a memorial for his friends at Hildene Manor, where he lived for many years, in Spring.
