Cheryl Ann Smith
Cheryl A. Smith left this world February 9, 2020 at 74 years of age to be with her Heavenly Father. Sherry Smith was born in Indianapolis on January 15, 1946 to Roger B. Smith and Frances A. Smith, nee Church. Sherry attended Central High School and graduated from Harrison High School in 1964. She extended her studies at Western Kentucky University, and earned a Master's Degree in Education. Sherry later attended the University of Evansville where she earned her second Master's Degree in Sociology. After a career in teaching, Sherry entered the role of a drug and alcohol counselor. A compassionate person, she assisted many in their battle with addiction and made many friends working as a counselor for over 30 years. Upon retirement she became a Master Gardener and world traveler, visiting England, France, China and Ireland. Sherry is survived by her daughter, Carey A. Reisz of California; brother, C.A. Smith (Betty), and her sister Shannon Badger (Bill) all from Newburgh; nephew, Roger Smith; niece, Cindy Kegelman ; nephew, Brian Phelps; great nephew, Trevor Smith, and great nieces Megan Smith, Mackenzie and Madison Kegelman, and Abby Phelps. A Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Mike Claypool. Friends may visit Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Holly's House, 750 N. Park Drive, Evansville, IN 47710.
