Carolyn Marie Morris Martin
Carolyn Marie Morris Martin Fayetteville —After an nine-month battle with cancer and a forty-eight year battle with multiple sclerosis, Carolyn Marie Martin died on February 12, 2020 in Fayetteville, NC at the age of 77. Carolyn was born on November 10, 1942 in Shenandoah Valley, VA, to Louis and Nellie Morris, who preceded her in death. She grew up in a large, loving family with four sisters and two brothers. She met her husband, Buddy, in Shenandoah. They were married on November 13, 1964. Shortly after their wedding they relocated to Burlington, NC. There the couple lived and raised their two children, until moving to Fayetteville in 1984. From the moment she was diagnosed with lung cancer in mid 2019, she remained dedicated in her will to fight her illnesses. Up to her final days, she remained a dignified, brave, iron-willed woman, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Buddy Martin; her son, Chris Martin (Maria); her daughter, Tina Nastasi (David); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren as well as her sisters, Mary Lou Younts, Betty Foster, Gloria Morris and Joanie Morris; her brothers, James and Louis Morris Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301 from 5pm to 7PM on Saturday. A private burial will be held on Sunday at Carolina Memorial Park, 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083. The family is so grateful for the incredible caregivers and their constant, caring, and attentive treatment. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Duke Cancer Center (Durham), St. Joseph of the Pines (Southern Pines) and Liberty HomeCare & Hospice (Fayetteville).
