Jean 'Songs' LaMond Longtime Verizon employee; played drums in bands locally Jean "Songs" LaMond, 69, of Union, N.J. passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, at his home. Born Jan. 10, 1951, to the late Melvin and Maxine LaMond in Irvington, N.J. Jean resided in Union with his six dogs that he loved. He was extremely knowledgeable of music, and enjoyed watching Abbott and Costello and The Three Stooges movies. He was employed at Verizon for 33 years as a frame person. Jean, known as "DJ Jean Songs," was also a drummer playing with bands, The Institution and The Cherry Brothers. He entertained at various restaurants and did private functions in the Union County area for many years. Jean is survived by his wife, Rose Marie LaMond and two nieces, Toni LaMond and Heather Larson. A visitation for Jean will be Thursday, Feb. 13, 4 to 8 p.m., at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. 07083, 908-686-4700. A funeral service will occur Friday, Feb. 14 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday, Feb. 14 from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave,.
