He was born Michael Ray Cavyell in Grants Pass, Oregon, to Ray Cavyell and Joanne Murphy Cavyell. His paternal grandparents were Native American. He was a logger, arborist, sawyer and herbal connoisseur. He loved honky tonk music, ocean fishing, riding his motorcycle, watching sports and drinking Red Seal Ale. He had a great sense of humor. He was predeceased by his son, Zack Sommer. We are very grateful to the MCDH and Hospice staff for keeping him as comfortable as possible. "Now he's riding that highway in the sky" to his peaceful place. A celebration of his life will be held at the Mendocino Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, from 1 to 4 p.m. Please come - bring food, music, photos and stories, if you like.
