Anthony J. Marcigliano, 93 Happiest when he was with his family, proud WWII Army veteran Anthony J. Marcigliano, 93, of West Brighton, passed away into the arms of God on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Josephine (nee Druda). He was the loving father of Nicholas Marcigliano (Lynette), Anthony J. Marcigliano Jr. (Maureen), and James Marcigliano and his wife, Tania; cherished grandfather of Joshua (Kristina), Kimberly (Shane), Sharde' (Louie), Vicky (Mike), Lisa (Callum), Melissa (Vinny), Cody, and Melanie; devoted great-grandfather of AJ, Brynn, Layla, and Sabrina; dear brother-in-law of Lillian and lifelong best friend of Joe Yaccarino (Jean). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 10 siblings as well as his parents, Angela Maria and Nicola. Mr. Marcigliano was born on Staten Island in 1927, and raised in West Brighton. Anthony was a proud Army veteran, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater in Japan, in 1945 and 1946, under General MacArthur. He earned three medals for his exemplary service in the military. Some of his hobbies included bowling with his family and friends, trips to Atlantic City, and he was an avid NY Giants and Yankees fan. In addition, Anthony was a self-taught pianist, who also enjoyed poetry which earned him a first place poetry award in the CASC poetry contest. His happiest and most memorable times were his times spent with his family members at many family gatherings and events. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Benedicta R.C. Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
