James E. Beck CANANDAIGUA - James E. Beck, age 72, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020. He is survived by his stepson, Scott (Rachel) Hackett and their children, Brady, Ansley and Jamie; two brothers, Denny (Terri) Beck and John Beck (Irene Nixon); sister, Mary Beck; and dear friend, Bette Weaver. He was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca Hackett-Beck in 2017; sister, Susan Ryan; and brother-in-law, Donald Ryan. Jim was born in Rochester and was the son of Robert and Janet Beck. He and his family moved to Canandaigua in 1952. Jim was a graduate of St. Mary's School, class of 1961 and Canandaigua Academy, class of 1965. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Jim retired from the U.S. Post Office in Canandaigua in 2008 after 41 years as a mail carrier. After his retirement, he went to work for Ontario County Office for the Aging Meals on Wheels program. Jim loved boating and fishing on Canandaigua Lake. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in East Newark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Light Hill (comfort care home), 5160 Parrish St., Ext., Canandaigua, NY 14424; or Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456.
