Also preceding him in death were his twin brother, Ronald, his brothers, Charles and Sam; sisters, Micki and Norma; three step sons, Stan Gilbert, Joseph "Putt" Shultz and Ronald "Rob" Shultz. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sherry Lee Hamrick, one son Roger; a niece Elaine Pendergrass, and one grandson, Austin. A most special friend, Patricia Amis was at his side to give him his last nourishment. Don served in the U.S.A.F and retired as an underground construction foreman for Sullivan Long and Haggerty of Alabama. He loved his Christian brothers and sisters at Escatawpa Baptist Church where he was a longtime member. He was an avid fisherman and loved to fish in the rivers and canals around Jackson County, only to give his catch away to anyone he met along the way home. He was a caring and loving man, always generous with his time and talents. A memorial service will be celebrated at Escatawpa Baptist Church on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 3:30 PM in the Family Life Center. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, MS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Escatawpa Baptist Church.
