WILLIAM SCOTT GUTHRIE
GUTHRIE, WILLIAM SCOTT Age 66, passed away suddenly at Moffit Cancer Center in Florida after a brief battle with lung cancer on Sunday, January 5, 2020. His wife was by his side. Scott was born on February 12, 1953 in Ann Arbor, MI to the late William A. Guthrie and Ernestine Guthrie. He married Susan D. Davis on Sept 22, 1973. They moved to Dexter, MI in 1979. They retired and moved to Punta Gorda, Fl in 2018. Scott worked as an auto mechanic in Ann Arbor before starting at GM Proving Grounds in Milford, MI. He worked with a number of fantastic people, some of whom have become forever friends. Scott's interests were many: music, guitar, dirt track racing, camping, and eventually triathlons and cycling. Cycling became his true love. He met so many wonderful people in the cycling community. In his retirement, he worked as a bike mechanic, built many bikes for himself, and helped many friends with their bikes. Scott is survived by his wife, Susan Guthrie; his son, William Paul Guthrie; two nephews, Stephen (Pam) Florio, Mark (Ellen) Florio and two nieces, Jessica and Sara Folk. In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Sue Gwinn. Scott requested a private service with family to be held at a future date in Ann Arbor. Celebration of life for all friends in the Ann Arbor area at a date yet to be determined, early-mid summer.
