WANDA JEAN RICKS HORRELL WINTER HAVEN - Wanda Ricks Horrell passed away after a long battle with carcinoid cancer at her home in Winter Haven with friends and family by her side on Saturday, January 18, 2020. She is survived by her parents, Viola and Willis Ricks of Nashville, Tennessee. Wanda was born in Nashville and attended Two Rivers High School and graduated with a Masters degree from Belmont University in 1972. At Belmont, she met and married her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Fred Horrell. They moved to Winter Haven, FL together and lived in the same home for over 40 years. Wanda lived an amazing life and was an accomplished musician, teacher, water skier and beloved mother. Her Christian faith led her to overseas volunteer missionary work in the Marshall Islands. She sang and traveled around the world with the Florida Baptist Convention choir, and sang at Carnegie Hall twice. In 1967, she was a touring member of the group, 'Up With People' and assigned to 'Cast A.' She is survived by her two children, Stephanie and Thomas and five grandchildren. A memorial service was held on February 3, 2020 at Lake Ship Baptist Church.
