Dorothy Jurgens
Dorothy Dye Jurgens "Dottie," "Yah Yah" to her grandchildren, peacefully passed away at her home in Montevallo January 17, 2020 at the age of 88 years. She is survived by sons, Richard Scott Brown of Talladega and Lawrence (Ligida) Jurgens of Homewood, and daughter Cathy (David) Zavadil of Virginia Beach, VA, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved deeply. She was born Sept. 22, 1931 to J.W. Dye and Lydia Trawick Dye in Talladega. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tony Jurgens and son, Michael Allen Brown, and siblings: Thelma Lea Thrasher, Winmom Clinton Dye, James Olen Dye, Walter Casey Dye, William Clarrell Dye, and William Howard Dye. Dottie was deeply devoted to her precious family and friends and to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who sustained her through her recent battle with cancer. The family would like to thank ExpectCare Hospice and Five Points Healthcare for their tender loving care of Dottie over the past months. They would also like to thank her friends and neighbors, the congregation of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and Father Steve for prayers and encouragement while she was homebound. Thank you to every heart and hand for physical and spiritual care. Many thanks to all members of Team "Miss Dottie." A memorial service will held Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Montevallo. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
