Barbara A. Heffernan, 86 Devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Barbara A. Heffernan, 86, died on Jan. 13, 2020 after a short illness. A wake will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at Colonial Funeral Home, Staten Island, N.Y., from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church on Staten Island on Thursday, Jan. 16. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetary. Barbara worked as a school aide with the N.Y.C. Department of Education until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed family vacations on Long Beach Island and attending sporting events and school activities for her children and grandchildren. She was a passionate shopper, especially back in the days of A&S and Best &Co. She also loved to cook meals for the family and celebrate special events and holidays. Nothing made her happier then spending time with them. She is survived by her four children, John Heffernan (Barbara), Janet Welch (James), Mary Paradzinsky (Michael), and Richard Heffernan (Jennifer). She was most proud of her nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
