Dr. Darrell Wolfley
Dr. Darrell Eugene Wolfley Born January 8, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Delbert C. and Leah B. Wolfley. Darrell passed quietly in his sleep January 6, 2020 at his home in Shoal Creek, Alabama. Darrell is survived by his wife Jann, His son James/Sara Wolfley and grandsons J.P. and Noah Wolfley, Son Stephen, Jann's children-Jerry Howells Jr., Heather Aniss and Anthony Howells, Brother Leon/Barbara Wolfley, Brother Joel Wolfley, Sister Jolene/Arthur Miyazaki, Sister Vicki/Gary Margetts. He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and Brother (Dennis). Darrell graduated Cum Laude from the University of Utah and went on to graduate from Northwestern University Medical School, where he was elected to membership in Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI. After he completed his Army Duty, he did a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at New York Medical College. His career led him to New Orleans, LA where he was Director of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Louisiana State University. Then on to Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and Yale University in New Haven, CT. He finally ended up in Birmingham, AL at Vision America, where he remained until his passing. Darrell's absence will be felt by countless friends, family members and colleagues. A Memorial Service will be held in Darrell's honor on Sunday January 26, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Birmingham. 2209 Lakeshore Drive, Homewood, AL 35209, Visitation:2-3 P.M., Services: 3-4 P.M., Refreshments in Fellowship Hall: 4-5 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a contribution to The Wounded Warrior Project in Darrell's name.
