Bettye Reine
Bettye Reine Evansville, IN - Bettye Jo (Goebel) Reine, 78, of Evansville, Indiana passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 comfortably at home after a seventeen-year fight with breast cancer. Bettye was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 22, 1941 to the late Harold and Edna (Tafel) Goebel. She married her loving and faithful husband, Edwin Joseph (Joe) Reine, on September 17, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bettye was a graduate of Mater Dei High School in 1959 where she was the proud class treasurer for three years. She worked as a bookkeeper at Parkview Care Center for 23 years and thoroughly enjoyed her work with the Parkview residents. Bettye helped charter the Women's FOP Auxiliary in Posey County; was a proud member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for over 50 years, an active member of a Card Club (The Club That Doesn't Play Cards!) with friends and classmates for 50+ years. They enjoyed monthly get-togethers and yearly excursions to new places. Bettye and her husband Joe looked forward to yearly trips across the country to South Carolina and Arizona to visit our children. She cherished her 60th birthday trip to NYC with her daughter, Dianna and her 50th anniversary trip to the Florida Keys. Bettye's favorite thing to do besides being with family and friends was to spend quiet mornings enjoying coffee watching birds on the porch and in the woods of her beautiful lakeside home for over 40 years remembering the many family parties and reunions hosted there. Bettye was grateful for her husband; children; grandchildren; sister, Carol, sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and her neighbor, Sandy, for helping her through her last few years. Bettye and her family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Edward Fox and his staff for 17 additional years of Bettye's life. Bettye is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe Reine of Evansville, IN; her children, Dwayne Reine of Prescott Valley, AZ, Randall Reine of Evansville, IN, and Dianna (Lawrence) Reine of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her grandchildren, Heather (Korey) Nunning, and Cameron (Holly) Reine; her great-grandchildren, Aubrey Nunning, Connor Reine, and Ava Reine; her siblings Robert (Connie) Goebel and Carol Ann Lantaff; her siblings-in-law, Tony Reine, Mary Jane and Bob Lawrence, Gloria Reine, Steve and Diana Reine, Judy and Dan Miller, Pattie and Patrick Singleton, Chuck and Pam Reine; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Bettye was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Goebel; by siblings-in-law, Les Lantaff, Kathy and Dick Clark, Mary Catherine Reine and Don Reine. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Rev. Jason Gries officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 10:30 AM until service time on Thursday at Holy Redeemer Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society or a cancer foundation of your choice.
