Apol, Dorothy J. Cutlerville, MI Dorothy Jean (Vander Slik) Apol, age 97, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Apol; grandson, Ben Rustemeyer; infant great-granddaughter, Savannah Visser; and siblings, Cora Warsen, Lyda Lemmen, and Junior Vander Slik. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, John Apol (Judy), Carol Rustemeyer, James Apol (Ludy), Carla Weidenaar, Connie Sztengel (Victor), and Cheryl Kuipers (Ivan); 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucille Apol; many nieces and nephews. In addition to raising six children, Dorothy enjoyed flower gardening, was active in her church as a long-time member of the choir and the "Stitchers", and worked at a fabric store for many years. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, January 15, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Stroo Funeral Home, and Thursday, January 16, from 10 - 10:45 a.m. at Cutlerville East Christian Reformed Church, 501 68th St. SE, where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ed Visser officiating. Interment will be in Blain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to World Renew or Hospice of Michigan.
