Sylvia (May) Conlon
Sylvia (May) Conlon Livonia/Sarasota, FL - Sylvia May Conlon passed away peacefully at her Sarasota, Florida home on January 1, 2020 with her sons Charles and Paul at her side. She was 87. Sylvia was born in Wayland, NY to Charles and Genevieve May. The family moved to Livonia when she was 7 and she graduated from Livonia Central School in 1950. She attended dental hygiene school in Buffalo. Sylvia married F. Patrick Conlon on August 7, 1954 and they were devoted partners until his death on May 9, 2018. They raised their 5 children in Livonia where Sylvia will also be remembered as the first dental hygienist for the Livonia School system. Her proudest professional achievement was instituting the innovative fluoride rinse program in the schools. In addition to sons Charles of Sarasota and Paul of Virginia Beach, VA, she is survived by her brother Jack (Patricia) of Rochester, daughter Diane Holmes (Chip Widener) of Evanston, IL, sons James (Karen) of Bloomfield, Robert (Eileen) of Conesus, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. The family is planning a celebration of Sylvia's life in July in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Agnes School in Avon or the Lima Christian School in Lima are appreciated.
