Miriam "Mitzie" Husid
Miriam 'Mitzie' Husid Beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend Miriam (Mitzie) Husid, 91, passed peacefully surrounded by love on Jan. 11, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate, Myron, and her sister, Emma, and is survived by her two loving daughters, Alison Strausberg and Tracy Gavant; her four adoring grandchildren, Maya, Carly, Michael and Sophie, and her devoted sons-in-law, David and Hal. Mitzie is also survived by her brother, Sam Farber; her sister, Harriet Goldstein, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Mitzie grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and after raising her family in West Orange, N.J., began a 26-year career at Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest, where she spearheaded many fundraising campaigns, missions to Israel and other special events. Her positive attitude and passion for life was an inspiration to all. Despite being widowed at a young age, Mitzie lived life to the fullest, traveling the world and pursuing her many interests, including painting, tennis, swimming, Mah-Jong and numerous volunteer activities. She served on the boards of The Rachel Coalition and Jewish Association for Special Needs. Mitzie lit up any room she entered with her outgoing personality and energetic spirit and touched everyone she met. She was truly a treasure and will be missed by many. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. at Menorah Chapels at Millburn, 2950 Vauxhall Rd, Union (Vauxhall), N.J. Interment will follow at B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, Union, N.J. In lieu of flowers, please talk to a stranger, help someone in need or just simply smile. Donations may be made to Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest.
