JoAnn Martin Oakley Jan. 15, 1930 - Jan. 8, 2020 OKLAHOMA CITY JoAnn Martin Oakley, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2020 due to natural causes. JoAnn was born on January 15, 1930 in Maud, Oklahoma to Earl and Dorothy Martin. She grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma and graduated from Seminole High School, where she met her future husband, Jerry Pryor Oakley. After attending Christian College in Columbia Missouri, JoAnn went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, pledging Kappa Kappa Gamma and obtaining her degree in 1952 in Home Economics. She remained an active Kappa Alum for the remainder of her life. Marrying in June of 1953, JoAnn & Jerry moved to Bainbridge, Georgia. They and their 3 children then lived in several cities including Wichita, Kansas City, New York City, Denver and finally settled in Oklahoma City in 1976. JoAnn was a wonderful cook who loved to entertain both family & friends. She was an avid Bridge player, belonging to several groups. She stayed involved with the Kappas and regularly attended Bible study at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. She was an enthusiastic member of the English Speaking Union. JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband Jerry, sister Marilyn Vandiver and son-in-law Don Allen. JoAnn is survived by her sister Beverly Vincent, daughter Stephanie Allen, sons Jeff Oakley & wife Valerie, Rich Oakley & wife Cherron. Affectionately known as "Ooee", JoAnn is survived by her grandchildren - Courtney & Blake Allen, Alex Oakley & wife Shelby, Lauren Oakley, Anna Marie & Will Oakley. The Family would like to thank Shay & Cecelia, her primary caregivers at the Mansion at Waterford for their loving care. Special thanks to the compassionate staff at Select Specialty Hospital for her end of life care. We are forever grateful.
