In memory of
Vera M. Lowder-Lakin Dec. 11, 1928 - Jan. 9, 2020 DEL CITY Vera Mae Lowder-Lakin née Parrish passed away on Jan. 9, 2020, at the age of 91. She was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Post, TX, the third child of the eventual five of Joe and Thelma Parrish. She graduated from Midwest City High School in 1947. Vera was an executive secretary at Tinker AFB, where she was the Director's Secretary in the Directorate of Material Management. At various times, she also worked in the Comptroller, History, and Public Affairs Office. She retired in the early 1970s. Vera was universally known as being a woman who could eat all of the chocolate she desired and never gain a single pound. Every day of her final ten years on this planet, she drank a chocolate milkshake, yet never exceeded 125 pounds on her 5'7" frame. Each child at Christmas was traumatized by her slow eating and the ceaseless chatter among her sisters (led by our "Ver Honey") as we eagerly awaited opening our gifts until the adults had finished their meal. Her family, friends, and the employees of her assisted living center were heard wailing as her smile, her kindness, her faith, and her never empty bowl of candy she shared with everyone is now gone. Vera was preceded in death by her father and mother; her sisters, Anita Cross, Jean Arnold, and Alta Williams; and her brother, Don. She is survived by her son, Robert "Bob" Tulloh (Trish); granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Gregory, of Richmond, VA; grandson, Drake Tulloh, of Mount Gilead, OH; great- granddaughter, Julia Elizabeth Gregory, of Richmond, VA; and nieces, Jan Callaway, Niki Brady, and Kristy Thurman. A more loving mother, devoted grandmother, or faithful friend has never lived. A private ceremony at graveside celebrating her life will be held on Jan. 13, 2020.
