Jasper DeMarco
Jasper DeMarco, 78 Beloved father, brother, and grandfather Jasper DeMarco passed away quietly at his Rosebank home on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020. The son of Victor and Louise DeMarco, Jasper was a lifelong Staten Island resident growing up in Dongan Hills. He attended P.S. 11 and New Dorp HS. After graduation Jasper joined the U.S. Navy. Serving from 1959-63 he did service in Europe and the Mediterranean. After his military service Jasper came home to Staten Island and he began to work at SS White Co. in Princess Bay. He moved on to drive for Mercury Cleaners and began a 20-year career as a NYC firefighter, retiring in 1989. Jasper was every kid's favorite, he was the "ice-cream man," having trucks in Rosebank and South Beach in the late 60's and 70's. He enjoyed golf, football, Yankees baseball and most of all time with his granddaughters. Jasper is survived by his loving children, Anna Maria Poveromo and Victor DeMarco. He was the dear brother of Connie Arnone and Vincent and Victor DeMarco and cherished grandfather of three granddaughters. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Martin Hughes Funeral Home in Concord. A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Martin Hughes Funeral Home with committal to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Services were entrusted to the care of Martin Hughes Funeral Home.
