He attended East Central University, National Technical Institute for the Deaf and Gallaudet University. Throughout his life, Tom deeply loved his family and they loved him. He was a compassionate, generous and thoughtful soul. If you were a member of his family or he counted you as a friend, he knew your birthday and especially on that day, for you, he prayed. Tom made it clear that when he was finished with his earthly body, he wanted it to be used to help others by being an organ donor. He eagerly awaited his new and perfect body in Heaven. From birth thru childhood, Tom received excellent and loving care from the physicians, nurses and staff of Children's Hospital of Oklahoma and the teachers at the OU Speech and Hearing Clinic. As an adult, Tom received the same excellent and loving care from the Physicians, Physicians Assistants, Nurses and Staff of the OU Health Sciences Center as an outpatient and in the hospital. Tom's family wishes to express their deep and profound thanks to All. Tom was preceded in death by his infant brother, John Bolton Geurkink.
