In memory of
B. Jean McKim Scully
B. Jean McKim Scully Palm Desert - Jean was born November 18, 1919, in Anaheim, CA, and passed to her rest on December 23, 2019, at her home in Palm Desert, CA. She attended La Sierra College and was offered a scholarship to Julliard School of Music, but instead chose to marry a young ministerial student, Orval R. Scully, and follow him on assignments in the mission field: 20 years in Chile, as well as shorter terms in Argentina, Bolivia, Bangladesh, Haiti, and Ireland. Together they pastored in California, Michigan, and Arizona for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Jean was known for her love of flowers and flower arranging, her beautiful 5 octave range voice, and paper angel chains she created to entertain little ones in church or distract fussy kids at the supermarket. She had a spirit of adventure, once riding pack-mule for 7 hours in the high mountains of Bolivia! She attributes her 100 years to being vegetarian for over 70 years, chewing her food well, a positive attitude interspersed with a healthy sense of humor! After retiring in Palm Desert, she was widowed in 1998. Jean is survived by daughters: Kathleen McCurdy, Carolyn Thomsen Morton, Margaret Lagos Scully, and son, Jonathan O. Scully, as well as 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, plus nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation and a graveside service on Friday, January 17, 2020. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Sunrise Room at Forest Lawn, Cathedral City. The service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Desert Memorial Park located at 31705 Da Vall Drive, Cathedral City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Desert Adventist Academy located at 74200 Country Club Drive #2, Palm Desert, CA 92260 or ADRA Int'l at https://donations.adra.org/ .
