Minto L. Soares
Minto was born in Harlem, on June 9, 1936 to Obed and Gertrude Soares. He earned an Electrical Engineering degree from New York City College in 1959, and for over 36 years enjoyed his work at Consolidated Edison Company of New York, retiring as Vice President, Substation Operations. He served on a number of boards, including Bronx Lebanon Hospital. He was naturally curious. Loved antique watches, clocks, latest technology gadgets, people, knowledge and conversation. He was a long time resident of Swiftwater, PA. Minto was separated from his loved ones on a cold December day, while at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, in Allentown, PA. He was pre-deceased by his parents, and his sisters Gloria Brown and Dorothy Duncan. A devoted husband and father, for whom family was a sanctuary, he is survived by his wife, M. Stella Polanco Soares; his children, Miguel Minto Soares, Maria Mona Soares, and Minto Bienvenido Soares; grandchildren, Ryan Miguel Soares and Myles Minto Soares; daughter – in law – Virnalisa Soares; a niece, Shantelle Marie Brown; cousin, Ian Heron; and many friends, who were like family. Funeral information: December 30 @ St. Ambrose Episcopal Church @ West 130th Street 9 AM Viewing, 10:30 AM Mass. Following Mass, 12pm Woodlawn Cemetery Repast St Ambrose Church
