Thomas Anderson Dempsey
DEMPSEY, Thomas Anderson Thomas Anderson Dempsey, born in Houston, Texas, September 25, 1927, succumbed to lung cancer Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. He and his wife of 53 years, Frances (Fran), have resided in Farmers Branch since 1969. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Joe Dempsey and wife, Martha of Carrollton, daughter Paula Beebe of Dallas, brother Don of Wylie, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister-in law Cookie Sorrells, nephew Gary Sorrells, both of Greenville, nieces Sheri and husband Larry Crenshaw of Carrollton, Cayla Cummins and husband, Taylor of Dallas, Cara Blair and husband, Luke, currently serving in the military in North Carolina. Predeceased by son, David Grant Dempsey and daughter Deon Dempsey. Served in the Navy in WW2 as the Admiral's assistant. Received his BA from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, serving as the college baritone soloist, and Master's degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Served churches throughout the State for 12 years for the Baptist General Convention of Texas in Dallas. He retired after a successful career with Allstate Insurance Co., serving and counseling thousands of clients for 33 years. His hobbies were deer hunting, golf and traveling. He loved people and never missed an opportunity to share his faith, to mentor, counsel and inspire anyone who would listen, making friends everywhere he went. Tom was a member of First Baptist Church Richardson at Arapaho and Central, where a memorial service will be held at a later date. He loved and was loved by his family and many friends and will be sorely missed and remembered. We are comforted in the knowledge that he is singing again with his great Baritone voice in God's choir.
