Richard E. Farina
Richard E. Farina, 88, of Steelton, died Saturday, November 30, 2019 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School and Georgetown University. He was the retired Manager of the Harrisburg Claims Service Office for PA National Insurance Co., former High School and Collegiate Football Official, former Director of Mechanics Savings & Loan Assn., former member and Past President of the Steelton Kiwanis Club, and Life Member of PA Sports Hall of Fame Capital City Chapter. Richard was the son of the late Ralph R. Farina and Christie Hudson Farina and is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Winnie Shelley Farina; two daughters, Deborah M. Valencia and her husband, Rev. Raymond Valencia of Columbia, MD and Michelle M. Wise and her husband, Don, Jr. of ShermansDale; one son, Joseph M. Farina and his wife, Lisa of Doylestown; eight grandchildren, Craig, Katie, Jason, Nicholas, Ian, Martel, Gabrielle, and Madison; one great grandson, Samuel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert A. Farina and Elizabeth E. Farina and his foster sister, Louise Farina. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Very Rev. David L. Danneker, his Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with full military honors. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 357 S. Second St., Steelton. Recitation of the rosary at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, 815 S.
