David A. "Butch" Braskie
David A. 'Butch' Braskie CRYSTAL RIVER, FL David A. "Butch" Braskie, 75, formerly of Bloomsbury, NJ, passed away on Nov. 17, 2019, in Crystal River, FL. Born April 29, 1944, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Bosco Goncalves and Kathryn Brashy. He was also predeceased by a daughter-in-law, the late Gwen Shafer, who passed in 2019. David served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam, rising to the rank of corporal. He worked as an operating engineer with Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company in Staten Island, NY. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his children: Amanda Braskie and husband Scott Leonard, Anthony Braskie, Ben Braskie, Thomas Perry, Michael Perry, and Tammy Braskie. Mr. Braskie is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as a sister, Mary Ann, and brothers, Theodore and Frank. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
