Richard W. McCoy Vietnam-era veteran, 'a proud American' Richard W. McCoy, 71, of Union, N.J., formerly of Hillside, N.J., passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at the Lyons VA Hospital. Born Oct. 15, 1948 to the late John and Joan McCoy in Newark, N.J., Rick loved spending time with family and friends. He loved animals, his church and did good work for children's charities. He was a proud American who served his country selflessly during the Vietnam era. He will be greatly missed by the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Denise McCoy and Mike Giaimo; a brother, Jack; two nieces, Kristen McCoy-Abline and her husband, Brian Abline, and Jaclyn McCoy; a great- niece, Emma Abline, and a great-nephew, Ryan Abline. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. 07083 on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, N.J. 07083 on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, N.J. 07936.
