ARCHDALE – Lou Casey Layton, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at his home. He was born February 23, 1951, in Burlington and was the son of the late Fentress and Maggie Lee Garner Layton. He retired from Kayser Roth Corporation in 2017 following 48 years of service where he worked in the IT department and developed many close friends that he still cherishes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Myrrl Hornady Layton; and step-brothers, Bob Hornaday and George Hornaday. Lou is survived by his wife, Kay Bunting Curtis, whom he married on January 10, 2015; and step-brother and step-sister, Doug Hornaday (Dottie), Sandra Frye (John) and their children and grandchildren; Lou also had many longtime special friends that loved and supported him through his journey. Lou has chosen to donate his body to the Willed Body Program at High Point University. At his request, there will not be a service. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Please come share a story or memory with Kay and the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield United Methodist Church, 1505 NC Highway 62, High Point, NC 27263; Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262; or SPCA of the Triad, 3163 Hines Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27405. Lou was also under the care of Hospice of the Piedmont for the last seven months of his life. Everyone we came in contact with was such a blessing to us in the way they took care of both of us. They are all truly exceptional and compassionate people. Condolences may be sent to the family online on Lou's tribute page at www.cumbyfuneral.com .
