FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Alfred Monwell C. Porter transitioned on November 22, 2019 at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was born in Alamance County to the late Shenervus Porter and Margaret Covington Porter. He was married to the late Earnestell V. Porter. Alfred was a graduate of Graham High School. Following his education at Graham, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his military career, he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. During his tenure he traveled the world with his family. As an Airman, he also had the opportunity to serve as security for former President Lyndon B. Johnson. He enjoyed fishing, watching football and playing crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed bowling. He was a jack of all trades. He was a Sumblime Master Mason-Prince of the Royal Secret. He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter: Stacey Sanders (Heawatha) of Fayeteville, North Carolina, step daughter: Terri Lundy (Todd) of Austin, Texas, his twin sister: Audrey McCain of Burlington, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Andre Porter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 12 Noon at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church. Visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be held from 3-8pm in the Mary Blackwell Chapel on Friday, November 29, 2019.
