Rita Jean (Lichtenfeld) Borchert Evansville, Ind. - Rita Jean (Lichtenfeld) Borchert, 89, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at the Linda E. White Hospice House. Rita was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 1, 1930, to the late Leo and Agnes (Harter) Lichtenfeld. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1948 and attended Evansville College. She remained a fan of Ace's basketball for the rest of her life and was a long-time season ticket holder. Rita worked at Atlas Van Lines, DeJong's, Lazarus and Stein Mart. She religiously worked the crossword puzzle in the newspaper every morning and enjoyed playing in different bridge clubs. Rita had a special gift to make others laugh with her jokes and off the cuff humor. She was a devout catholic and a faithful member of St. Benedict Cathedral. Rita was a special lady and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. Rita is survived by her daughters, Beth Jones (Morgan) and Barbie Brown both of Evansville, IN; sister, Jacqueline Hoefling of Boonville, IN; grandchildren, Morgan Jones (Hailey), Lauren Trinkle (Alex) and Addison Brown; a nephew, Kyle Hoefling (Tracy); a niece, Christine Lutz (Jeff); and a great nephew. Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Frank William Borchert in 1994; her parents; and by her brother, Robert. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, December 2, 2019, at St. Benedict Cathedral,1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 with Father Ted Tempel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 8:30 am until Mass time on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Cathedral. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda E. White Hospice House for all of their care and compassion given to Rita.
