In memory of
Sandra Robinson
Sandra Robinson July 12, 1944 - Oct. 26, 2019 Sandra Robinson died Oct. 26, 2019, in Beaverton. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and raised near San Diego, Calif., Sandra graduated from San Diego State University before relocating to Beaverton in 1978. She spent many years working for U.S. West. She was a devoted mother to her two sons and was president of the Babe Ruth Baseball League in Aloha. She was whip-smart and loved a robust political discussion. She was also a breast cancer survivor. The birth of her first grandchild in 2000, created the perfect excuse for retirement and a move to Seattle. Becoming a grandparent was easily her favorite accomplishment. She served on the homeowners association at Sundance Park in Redmond, Wash., and continued her service as Chair of the resident's association at The Ackerly after her move back to Portland three years ago. Being close to her Oregon granddaughters while enjoying her new friends and activities made the move a perfect choice for Sandra. While there, she explored her talents as an artist and took an interest in genealogy. She was very happy there and that gives us solace. Sandra was preceded in death by her brother, Eric Smeland; her father, Stan Smeland; and her mother, Cynthia Lovejoy. In addition to her two sisters, Lauren (David) Parry and Liz (Jim) Byrnes, Sandra is survived by her sons, Tony (Julie) of Clyde Hill, Wash., and Nolan (Cindy) of Portland; her grandchildren, Jackson, Rian, Natalie and Courtney; and her canine companion, Molly. A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at The Ackerly, 11795 N.W. Cedar Falls Drive, Portland, OR 97229. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Lupus Foundation of America. Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
