Mary D'Amato Dearest mother and grandmother Mary D'Amato, a longtime resident of Staten Island, N.Y., wife of the late Benny D'Amato of 52 years, passed away on Wednesday, Nov.13, 2019 at 81 years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Lucy D'Amato; sons, John and Benny; and daughters-in-law, Suzanne and Lisa. She leaves behind five grandchildren, John, Julieann, Erica, Janine and Benny. Mary was born Mary Lombardi in Vinchiaturo, Campobasso in Italy. Mary was an amazing homemaker who loved cooking and entertaining her family on the holidays. She enjoyed spending her time in Atlantic City playing her favorite slot machines. She spent many years enjoying her family weekends at the Jersey Shore, where she tended her beautiful gardens. Her family will miss her homemade macaroni and jarred tomato sauce along with the many traditional Italian dishes and traditions. Her generosity and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hanley Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in advance of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church.
