Kay Ellen Corenman Kleinman
Kay Ellen Corenman Kleinman Kay Ellen Corenman Kleinman was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Jim and Frances (Rosen) Corenman, little sister to Barbara Corenman (Robbins), on September 17, 1944. Her first job was as the youngest employee of Mid West Candy and Nut Co. She died on October 17, 2019 of Cancer in Palm Desert, CA. Kay graduated from the University of Wisconsin (B.A. History) and San Francisco State College (Lifetime credential, social studies. She met and married the man of her dreams, Ira Kleinman (d. 7/23/1997) on 8/28/1966. The marriage produced two amazing sons, Geoffrey and Jeremy, daughters in law Heather, Meg (d. 8/4/2009) and Stephanie. From these marriages came her beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Aaron, Ivy, Sammy and Lily. While raising her sons, she became the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the East Bay Jewish Community Centers along with positions of leadership in the International Jewish Welfare Board. She planned conventions and regional meetings and took tremendous pride in representing her Bay Area community. Representing a lifelong love of travel, Kay worked in the travel industry for 16 years. Her family continues her love of travel, theater, and learning about the world. She maintained a strong connection not only with the family, but also with lifelong friends. Along with Ira they stay connected, with especially Neil and Judy Kleinman, their sons Scott (Camille) and Daniel (Erin) and sons. She was a member of Temple Sinai in Palm Desert, along with many other organizations. Kay was buried in Lafayette, CA on October 24, 2019. A Celebration of her life will take place in Palm Desert, CA on a date to be determined. Donations in her memory should be directed to the American Cancer Society, the Desert Cancer Foundation, or Jewish Family Service of the Desert.
