Herbert Ray "Red" Medley
Ray Medley, age 87 of Crestview, passed away on November 7, 2019. He was born on October 8, 1932 to M.H. Medley and Irene Adams Medley. Ray played football for the Crestview Bulldogs and was a part of the undefeated team in 1949. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. Ray received a scholarship to the University of Mississippi where he played football for the Ole Miss Rebels – Hotty Toddy! He received his Master's Degree in Education in 1954 from Ole Miss. After college he served two years in the Air Force in West Palm Beach and later became and coach and taught PE for 30 years. His teaching career span from Port St. Joe, Northwood and Richbourg Jr. High. Ray was a member of First Untied Methodist Church, Ole Miss Alumni and the M Club at Ole Miss. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Medley; daughter, Lori Paul; granddaughter, Stephanie Paul; and stepmother, Zelda Medley. Mr. Medley is survived by his sister, Mary Carma Riley; brothers and sisters in law, Jane and Randy Woolley and Carolyn Woolley; nephews, Dale Riley II and wife Shannon, Eric Riley, Jacob Riley and many other nieces, nephews and friends The funeral service will take place Monday, November 11, 2019 at 11AM at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with visitation at 10AM. Burial will follow in the Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
