In memory of
Rebecca Lenore "Becky" Portwood
Rebecca 'Becky' Lenore Portwood Nov. 14, 1922 - Oct. 15, 2019 Rebecca Lenore Portwood, "Becky," was born in Portland, Nov. 14, 1922, to Homer and Rebecca Portwood. She died Oct. 15, 2019, in Milwaukie, Ore. Becky graduated from Capitol Hill Grade School and Girls Polytechnic High School and attended Lewis & Clark College for two years in hopes of becoming a teacher. However, the Depression intervened, so she attended night school and studied to be a bookkeeper all while working at Jantzen Knitting Mills. After graduation, she worked at N.W. Schools, among other places and ultimately retired from Pacific Metal. While working, Becky took care of her parents until their deaths. Her biggest joy in life was being with her large and extended family. She was the glue that held a wonderful family together. All things must pass, but the love she gave us all will endure forever. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, John, Robert, Daniel, Ralph, Vern, Frank, Eva Iammatteo and Lawrence. She was the seventh of those nine children and the last to leave us. She is survived by her "kiddos," 22 nieces and nephews and their spouses, their offspring and their offspring's offspring. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3915 S.E. Steele St. In lieu of flowers, Becky requested that donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland. Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
