Mar Jo Beckham Ivey, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 5, 2019, in Pascagoula, MS. Mar Jo is survived by her brothers, Ross Beckham, of Meridian, MS, Glenn (Evelyn) Beckham of Escatawpa, MS, Fred (Jeannette) Beckham of Escatawpa, MS, and her sisters, Lavern Beckham Hays, of Escatawpa, MS and Thellis Beckham Johnson of Helena, MS; her three daughters, Bridgett Smith (Matthew) Brown of Covington, LA, Cassie Smith (Barry) Todd of Vancleave, MS, and Leigh Ann Smith (Jeremy) Ratliff of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Jeremy Lambert, Lauren Brown, Jessica Brockett, Lindsey Milton, Taylor Scudder, and Aaron Scudder; and five great-grandchildren, Ava Milton, Ivey Milton, Macy Brockett, Emma Brockett, and Owen Brockett; along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Ivey of Lucedale, MS, her parents, Ralph W. and Lilis C. Fortenberry Beckham of Edinburg, MS, and her brothers, Herman Beckham, and Loyce Beckham, and her sister, Opal Matthews. Mar Jo was born on April 1, 1939, in Leake County, MS. She attended Edinburg High School, where she played on the State Champion basketball team, and in 1958, she moved to Escatawpa, MS. In 1991, she relocated to Lucedale, MS. During her long history in banking, Mar Jo worked at Pass Point Bank, which is now Hancock Whitney Bank, and at Merchant and Marine Bank, from which she retired. Later, she went on to work at Walmart in Lucedale for many years. Mar Jo was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid, life-long servant of the Lord. For the past twenty-eight years, she was an active member of the Crossroads Free Pentecostal Church in Lucedale, MS. Her family and friends will always remember her as an amazing pianist and her love of sewing and making special costumes and outfits for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jeremy Lambert, Aaron Scudder, Bryce Brockett, Steven Turner, Danny Beckham, and David Beckham. Honorary pallbearers are Ross Beckham, Fred Beckham, Glenn Beckham, and Loyd Lawrence. Visitation and a funeral service are scheduled on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Heritage Funeral Home, 9721 MS-63, Moss Point, Mississippi. A visitation prior to the service will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Brother Warren Slay will officiate. Burial will be at Serene Memorial Gardens.
