Robert F. "Lefty" Thomas
Robert F. Thomas PALMER TOWNSHIP Robert F. "Lefty" Thomas, 88, of Palmer Township, formerly of Easton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at his home. Born Oct. 2, 1931, in Nanticoke, PA, he was a son of the late Robert Carlton Thomas and Lucy K. (Graboski) Thomas. He and his wife, Frances E. (Frankenfield) Thomas, celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on July 29, 2019. He attended Easton High School. Lefty was last employed as a maintenance supervisor for Third Street Alliance, where he worked for five years. Previously, he was a supervisor for 7-UP, Bethlehem, where he worked for 35 years. He was the first president of the Veterans Softball League, enjoyed bowling in leagues, playing basketball and softball in city and industrial leagues, and coached midget football, basketball and baseball for the Castel Club. Lefty was a member of Safety First Volunteer Fire Company and the former Order of Fleas. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Frances, are three sons, Robert Thomas and his wife, Linda, Rick Thomas and his wife, Sharon, and Ron Thomas and his wife, Ann, all of Easton; two daughters, Sharon Janson, and Kay Sutton and her husband, Dave, all of Palmer Township; a sister, Guida Ross of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren, Kristin Strattman and Andrew of Rhode Island, Katie DiMento and Anthony of California, Robert A. Thomas and Cassie, Patrick A. Thomas and Alyssa, and Hannah Kinsell and Steve, all of Easton, Stacy Mensch and Jason of Reading, Beth Flegler and Andrew of Easton, Stephanie Sutton and Nick of Shippensburg, Richard, Ryan, Matthew and Nathan Thomas, Kimberly Hirschbock and John, Ron Thomas and Kristina, and Brandon Thomas, all of Easton; and eight great-grandchildren.
