Elizabeth J. Mattson
Elizabeth J. "Betty" Mattson, 90, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019. Born April 21, 1929, in Taylor, PA, she was a daughter of the late William and Della (Stull) Thomas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and affectionately known as "GiGi" to her great-grandchildren. She graduated from Taylor High School and then attended the International Correspondence School. Betty worked in Scranton at Daystrom and Flossies's, Pomeroys/BonTon. She was also a G.S. Leader, a Judge of Elections for 40yrs in Susquehanna Twp.; a member of Tree of Life Lutheran Church, the Colonial Birds Bowling Team, Linglestown Garden Club, and a volunteer for the American Heart Association. Surviving are her children, Donald Mattson of Harrisburg, Mark Mattson of Camp Hill, Deborah Hetrick and spouse William of Harrisburg, Lisa Reist and spouse Marvin of Harrisburg, and Lori Harper and spouse William of Harrisburg; brother, James Thomas of Ocala, FL; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald O. Mattson; son, Richard Mattson; and sister, Susan (Thomas) Brink. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019, 11AM at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, 1492 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Visitation will be from 10AM-11AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her church (addressed above); or to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
