Frances Kent Krippaehne
Frances Kent Krippaehne
May 28, 1933 - Oct. 31, 2019
Frannie peacefully passed Oct. 31, 2019, surrounded by her entire family at her side.
Frances was born May 28, 1933 in Wichita, Kan., to Robert and Mary Kent. The family moved to Portland when she was 8 years old. She attended All Saints Grade School and Holy Child Academy where she made some "lifelong friends."
Fran married Zan Wise Nov. 9, 1955. They had four children, Elizabeth Wise, Zina Wise, Kent Wise and Amy Wise. As a working mother raising four children, Frannie's career included starting "Kahls Plus 2", a gourmet culinary business with her lifelong friend Sue Altstadt. She also worked at the Raquetclub and US Bank.
Frannie married John Krippaehne March 5, 1977. They enjoyed a full life filled with socializing and traveling the world together for 36 years until his passing.
Some of her passions included, gardening, reading, watching whales at Depot Bay, cooking, shopping, dining out at the Ringside, having breakfast at the Dockside and watching the Ducks, Portland Trail Blazers and the Seahawks with her grandkids. Holidays were very special to her, as the food and ambiance she created were always top notch. Fran was also a "gamer". She loved playing Bridge, Pitch and Mahjong with her friends and religiously worked the cross-word puzzles daily. Frannie was very social and loved being surrounded by friends. She was also very active in the community. She served selflessly and gave many hours to the Junior League and the Seminary Tea Committee. One of her favorite non-profits as of late was Nursingale, founded by her late niece, Chris Thomas.
Frannie is survived by five grandchildren; one great-grandchild with one on the way; Alex Wise, Quincy Wise-Dorbolo, Connor Sliney, Cassandra Wise, Charlie Sliney and Zina Wise, V.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at St. Mary's Cathedral. Immediately following Mass we invite everyone to the Multnomah Athletic Club to celebrate her life.
We would like to acknowledge some of Moms best friends, Sue Altstadt, the late Carol Vial and Ella Quinlan, the Besenius and Potts families and the Legends Community where she resided for the last six years.
In lieu of flowers, Frannie specifically asked donations be given to Catholic Charities, Nursingale, Macdonald Center or a charity of your choice.
