Jacqueline D. Gentile Dec. 1, 1922 - Oct. 18, 2019 A burial service was held Oct. 22, 2019, at Riverview Abbey for Jackie Gentile who passed away after a short illness Oct. 18, 2019, two months before her 97th Birthday. Jackie is remembered by everyone who knew her as a generous and compassionate person who found time for everyone. She represented the last of her era and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born in Ashland, Ore., Jackie later graduated from Commerce High School (Cleveland) of Portland where she met her lifelong love and husband, Ray Gentile Sr. They were married 77 years prior to his passing away in August of 2017. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who valued family above all else. Jackie juggled her family and professional life well, having worked for The Oregonian Publishing Company as Executive Assistant to the Circulation Director for 34 ½ years. During her time at the newspaper, she also planned and guided many excursions for the dealers to places around the world including Asia, Europe and Great Britain. Last November she traveled to visit her English "sister" in Lytham-St Annes. Jackie loved volunteering at Lincoln High School well into her late 80's. She was a passionate and unwavering fan of the Oregon State University Beavers, was the greatest Christmas Elf and renowned for her Italian Spaghetti and Meatballs. She was a collector of mementos and people she held dear. She is survived by her son, Ray C. Gentile Jr. of Las Vegas; daughter, Jo-Lynne Gentile Hamilton (Bill) of Portland; son, Ray C. Gentile III (Tre) of Portland; and grandchildren, Lindsay Hamilton Zolotoff, Niccola Gentile Bergendorff, Victoria, Derrick, Marco and Kyle Gentile; and two great-grandchildren, Finn and Emilia Zolotoff.
