Dan P. Beeler
Dan P. Beeler
Dec. 16, 1945 - Oct. 19, 2019
Dan Paxton Beeler was born to Daniel E. Beeler and M. Thelma Beeler Dec. 16, 1945, in McMinnville, Ore. He joined his sister Mary and brother Edward. He attended McMinnville High School where he was a three-sport athlete, excelling in football and baseball. After attending the University of Oregon for one year, he left to start his career at First National Bank in Portland in 1969. He met his future wife, Fay Eilertson, there and after a whirlwind romance, they were married Feb. 14, 1970. They were married for 49 years and were blessed with five children: Becky, Jeff, Dan Jr., Jen and Chrissy.
Dan left the banking industry and dedicated many years to selling athletic supplies for Frank Bashors, Pro-Am Sports and Larry's Sports. He found his true calling in building homes and doing remodels. He owned his own contracting company, Stepping Stone Homes, and built many beautiful homes. Dan was well known throughout the Tigard community as a youth basketball and softball coach. His 1988 softball team won the Little League World Series in Kalamazoo, Mich. He coached the Tigard High varsity softball team for several years.
In addition to his roles as outstanding husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and camping. His passions included the Oregon Ducks and family traditions like golfing every Mother's and Father's Day and bowling on Christmas with the Schiermans. He had an uncanny ability to make anything into a competition, including Easter egg hunts. Dan never turned down any chance to help friends or family with a project, and he fervently supported his kids and grandkids in every activity.
Dan valiantly battled pancreatic cancer; he died in his home surrounded by his loving family. Dan is survived by his wife, Fay; and kids, Becky (Dave), Jeff (Kara), Jen (Molly) and Chrissy. He adored his granddaughters, Elle and Campbell. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Fox; and many nieces and nephews from both sides of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dan Jr.; and brother, Ed.
We are forever grateful to all of you who spent time with Dad on the "veranda" during his last months: he cherished all of those moments.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at the Al Kader Shrine Center in Wilsonville, Ore. Dad would prefer Duck gear to traditional funeral attire, although all teams are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
