Day, Jackson Jackson Russell Day, age 98, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 1, 2019. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona (DeBoer); brother, Robert C. Day; brothers-in-law, Donald DeBoer, David DeBoer; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Day. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Rottman); children, Daniel and Lois Day, Thomas and Deborah Day, James and Joanne Day; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Lois' four children, Richard and Norma Rottman, Gay and Larry Groggel, Rev. Kent and Elizabeth Rottman, Alan and Kay Rottman; brother-in-law, Larry DeBoer; sisters-in-law, Alice DeBoer, and Jean DeBoer. Jackson was a naval WWII veteran, served as a teacher and counselor at Grand Rapids Christian High School, welding instructor at Grand Rapids Community College, and later served on the GRCC Board of Trustees as president. Graveside services for Jackson were held at an earlier date. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 10 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Kellan Day and Rev. Kent Rottman officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, November 22, from 4-7 pm at the funeral home and also Saturday from 9-10 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Christian Schools or Grand Rapids Community College. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com .
